Interpreters Job Requirements

Interpreters Position Requirements
Have oral and written proficiency in English
Be native of target language
Have at least one year experience in the subject matter
interpretation
Abide to Lone Star Interpreters Confidentiality
Agreement and Code of Ethics
Be a U.S. Citizen, a Permanent Resident or a Work
Permit holder.
Pass the Lone Star's criminal background
Have impeccable customer service skills: have strong
phone ethics, be very polite, have the right tone of voice
and have natural people's skills.
OPI (Over-The-Phone Interpreters) must have a basic
land line phone connection
OSI (On-Site Interpreters) must have a valid driver's
license and a reliable insured transportation

Step By Step Hiring Process
Start by visiting our Job Opportunities page and
complete our online employment application. A complete
application packet will be mailed to you.
Upon receipt of your application, a recruiter will contact
you within 48 hours for a brief phone interview
You will be contacted by a testing specialist to do a 45-60
minutes target language assessment test. You will be tested
on your subject matter terminology (legal, medical,
insurance, technology...) and on professional interpreter
standards
You will be mailed an orientation packet and a contract after
successfully completing the target language assessment test
You will be contacted to attend to the required 120 minutes
orientation. Orientation can be conducted over the phone or,
on-site depending on the position and your geographical
location.
